Contact person: Antonino MAGGIORE
“Ignazio Buttitta School” is situated in an economically disadvantaged suburb of Bagheria, a town just a few kilometers from Palermo. The pupils enrolled are 680 from 4-14years old. Most of them are not motivated and do not attend school regularly as a consequence their results are not satisfying and are at risk of social exclusion. Students with learning difficulties are included in the classrooms and have their own support teachers. Our students live in a poor economic, cultural and social environment where the access to culture is significantly limited or absent. Their parents are mostly uneducated and part time/seasonal workers and don't care much about their children’s education. They often rely on school their education that having no positive models to inspire them, often come to episodes of deviance. In this context our school plays the role of an educational and aggregation agency able to activate actions of adequate value to recover and contrast hidden problematic situations and relational hardships. The school arranges afternoon classes and clubs aiming to strengthen the basic skills of students to compensate the disadvantages of their cultural, economic and social background and reduce the phenomenon of school dropouts. The teachers propose activities through innovative approaches to enhance their learning style and strengthen the skills of communication in the mother tongue, foreign languages, Science and Math.
Since 1999 the school has been running European projects as coordinator and partner (Comenius, Individual Pupil mobility, eTwinning projects, PON and Erasmus+ projects) involving teachers, pupils and parents in activities carried out together with other EU countries.
Through this project and the partnership between students and staff in schools from various educational and environmental sea settings, we hope to create relationships that contribute to the wellbeing of our students, staff and local community and enable them to value our coastal landscape and culture and contribute effectively to our local and global society.

COLLEGE LA CHATOIRE  from Le Tampon, France

Contact person: Miguel TURPIN
"La Chatoire" college is an establishment located in an urban area in the town of Tampon in the south of Reunion Island.
Our establishment is composed of: 720 students aged 10 – 16, 4 levels divided into 27 classes, 54 teachers, 14 education, health and social workers and 15 maintenance staff.
Since 2016, we have participated in the Erasmus KA1 and KA2 program. Our European Development Plan is oriented towards international openness, the evolution of teaching practices, academic success, the development of European citizenship and sustainable development.
"Réunion, the intense island" is a land of contrasts and diversity. This jewel of the Indian Ocean is displayed on its 2,512 km² as one of the most unique territories, departments and regions of overseas. Reunion Island is home to exceptional and endangered coral reefs. The pressure of human activities has become so strong that the reefs are disappearing. Indeed, many people, through ignorance and inadvertence, trample on the corals scattered in the lagoon. However, corals constitute the most populated seabed in the world and serve as a refuge and nursery for more than 3,000 species of plants and animals in Reunion.
Aware of this issue, our school has an important preventive role and must transmit on from generation to generation the right gestures for the safeguard of our marine heritage.
Our engagement in this new partnership project would allow a continuity of our actions in this field and would also be a useful teaching support for the different programs but also a source of motivation for our students.

Guadalupe School is very dynamic, because it proposes several extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, as ballet and hip hop and music. We believe music is fundamental to children’s development. We created a music academy inside our school, where our students can learn piano, violin, drums, and singing.
Learning foreign languages is also very important for us and because of that our students start learning English from the early age of 3 years old with a native English Teacher.
At Guadalupe School, there are disabled students who have special needs and for them, we have a team of psychologists and therapists who work with their teachers and families. For us, the development of mentalities in both social and cultural relationships amongst the whole educational community is essential. At our school, we are very motivated to give our students an environmental education.
In our school we start the environmental education in kindergarten with activities concerning the importance of protection environment. We are a green school which is a distinction given to the schools that develop good practices concerning the protection of environment and environmental education. We are also a Cambridge school, with Cambridge curricula with science subject and it would very good for us implementing ocean literacy.

Contact person: Ferhat ŞIMŞEK

26 Haziran Secondary School is in Tokat with 625 students aged 11-14, 3 Managers, 34 teachers and 2 Counselling Service Teachers. We offer Technology Based Learning opportunities. Our school has become a member of consortium established by the Provincial Directorate of National Education in relation to refugees in 2017 and it is a member of esafetylabel.eu. We have been awarded with e-safety label and e-safety School Policy.
Tokat is 230 kms away from the Black Sea, the Yeşilırmek river flowing through Tokat province is polluted because waste and garbage collection system isn’t done properly. The waste water of
the villages, towns and district which are by the Dam lake, is poured directly to Yeşilırmak without being refined. Garbage, plastics, solid and liquid wastes, detergent wastes are infected to all Kazova, Tokat, Amasya and then to the Black Sea through the Yeşilırmak river. According to this research, the main reasons of pollution in Black Sea Region are the lack of sewage system, erosion, transportation by the seaside and negative effects of industrial companies.
Joining the project we aim to:
- raise awareness about sea and ocean pollution among the partners’ school teachers, students and parents
- better understand and evaluate the scope, origins, impacts of sea pollution
- share knowledge regarding eco-efficient waste management systems and practices
- imbue students and parents with recycling idea as an effective way to help the environment and prevent sea pollution
- give them the tools and develop critical skills to instill in them the ability to respect nature
- find solutions together about water and sea issues
- raising Cultural Awareness and European Dimension
This project will also help students and the community to behave in a more sensitive manner in the separation of solid wastes, understanding the vital importance of the sea and protection of water resources.
