The LTTA C5 lasted 5 days.
The LTTA focused on the study of Yeşilırmek river which pours waste water of the villages and towns into the Black Sea and the importance of recycling to prevent ocean pollution.
The students were involved in study fields such as the analyzes of the water of the Yeşilırmek river in order to identify the pollutants and collecting some debris along the river to use in the Art lab to create objects . They investigated the main factors of pollution and predicted the movement of litter from home to the river to the Black Sea using Joomag Apps. At the end of the activity the teachers set up the classroom in a forum style, gave students a scenario and specific roles for the activity and each group presented information pointing out their position on how to heal the Yeşilırmek River.
A visit to the Tokat Maturation Institute was made and the students experienced how carpets, shoes, shawls are made from recyclable products.
The visit at the Gazi Osmanpaşa University Faculty of Science an expert presented the stages of biodiesel production from plant products as a way to to solve the air pollution issue. At the Tokat Science Museum, Serap Hanım, an engineer from Tokat Municipality, gave a lecture about the recycling practices implemented in the province of Tokat. Virtual reality and augmented reality studio visit was made at the Yeşilırmak Vocational and Technical High School where a virtual event was held on climate. The students were also involved in workshops to produce recycled paper and make scarves and shawls with organic dyes using a traditional weaving tool, the Ebru and the batik Art.
In a general assembly with the representatives of the school community and parents, students informed the guests about the danger of the waste polluted water of the river and how waste gets the way to the Black Sea; gave tips on how to recycle properly and the value of reusing materials.
An exhibition of their “work of art” was set up and reporters from the local newspaper advertised the event.
The students worked in a secure project area (https://www.etwinning.net/en/pub/projects.htm) where they shared photos, texts, articles, presentations, videos, multimedia productions made with various ICT tools with their colleagues at home.
